On January 26, 2013, veteran radio host David Alpern interviewed Dr. Botkin on Radio America's For Your Ears Only. They discussed President Obama’s Inaugural Address and Dr. Botkin’s action items for the president. President Obama surprised many in his Second Inaugural Address by highlighting global climate change and the need to address it, devoting eight sentences of his speech to climate change, more than to guns, immigration, jobs or even the economy. President Obama stated:
The path towards sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult. But America cannot resist this transition; we must lead it. We cannot cede to other nations the technology that will power new jobs and new industries – we must claim its promise. That is how we will maintain our economic vitality and our national treasure – our forests and waterways; our croplands and snowcapped peaks.
In this interview, you'll hear some of Dr. Botkin’s environmental action items for the president in his second term.
